FIAO Holds Annual 5K Run/Walk


The Federation of Italian American Organizations of Queens (FIAO) hosted its 24th Annual 5K Run/Walk. This event, held on July 15th, was co-sponsored by Modell’s Sporting Goods Store. More than 300 participants ran from 20th Avenue to Shore Boulevard in Astoria Park to cross the finish line in front of FIAO’s Soccer Field. The race was followed by the Kiddie Fun Run, a special 100-meter dash for children under 10. The Federation of Italian American Organizations of Queens (FIAO) hosted its 24th Annual 5K Run/Walk. Race participants with state Senator Michael Gianaris, FIAO President Joseph DiPietro and Race Co-Coordinator Sandro Iannece. Among them are the winners, Emiliano Garcia, first man to cross the finish line in 16 minutes and eight seconds, and Jazmin Sidca, the first woman to complete the race in 20 minutes and 26 seconds.
