Councilmember Peter F. Vallone Jr. joined The 1910 Fruitgum Company on stage for a three-song set during the recent Astoria Waterfront Concert on the Great Lawn in Astoria Park. Vallone, an avid musician, played bass guitar during lively renditions of “Secret Agent Man”, “Happy Together” and “I’m A Believer”. The councilmember provides funding for the concerts, which are organized by the Central Astoria Local Development Coalition throughout the summer. Vallone also arranged for the Time Warner Cable ice cream truck to visit the concert and offer free ice cream to the thousands in attendance. “There’s nothing better on a beautiful summer evening than being outdoors, rocking out to some tunes, and enjoying some free ice cream with friends and family,” said Vallone.
