Stavisky, Queens College Celebrate Disabilities Act

Joining with Queens College students and local community leaders, state Senator Toby Ann Stavisky helped celebrate the 22nd anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). “The Americans with Disabilities Act is about opportunity, about giving people a chance to achieve their dreams despite personal handicaps and other obstacles,” Stavisky said. “The ADA was groundbreaking when it was passed 22 years ago and enjoys a rich legacy of empowering people to reach their potential.” The senator was joined by Assemblymembers Barbara Clark, Grace Meng and Michael Simanowitz. Stavisky awarded Certificates of Recognition to Committee for Disabled Students’ leaders and CUNY Vice Chancellor Jay Hershenson.
