Quinn, Koslowitz Arrange For Self-Defense Classes
There have been a number of sexual assaults over the past several months throughout Queens neighborhoods. In response, City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn and Councilmember Karen Koslowitz invite Queens residents to Self-Defense Training by the Center for Anti-Violence Education, 718-788-1775, www.caeny.org. This is open to ages 13 and up, seniors are welcome. The class will demonstrate techniques for self-defense and give information on the attacks from the NYPD. It is being held on Aug. 8, from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Forest Hills Jewish Center, 106-06 Queens Blvd., Forest Hills (entrance on 69th Road, between Austin Street and Queens Boulevard).
