Queens Lutheran School Youngster Wins Essay Contest


On July 20, Daniel Gomez was presented with a certificate, medal, and a gift card by Astoria Federal Branch manager George Galanis. Gomez, a third grader from Queens Lutheran School, won the essay contest sponsored by Astoria Federal Bank. The topic was what will Gomez do in the future with money saved today. His theme was that he wanted to start an organization that would help save the earth. He would have programs where he would teach adults and students how to recycle and help clean up the earth. With the money Gomez saves, he wants to build a big building on a large piece of land where he could have his own garden for the community children where they could grow their own food and take it home.
