Councilmember Mark Weprin presented City Council Citations to two heroes, Lifeguard Emily Harms and Retired NYPD Sergeant Chris Russo, for saving the life of an eleven-year-old boy who suffered a seizure at the Royal Ranch Pool in Floral Park. Harms has worked at the community pool for six summers; this was her first rescue.

“I applaud Emily Harms and Sergeant Chris Russo for their quick thinking and for ultimately saving a young boy’s life. These are the local heroes who help keep our community safe,” said Weprin.

Harms, who lives in Bellerose, studies elementary and special education at Providence College in Rhode Island.
