Offer $2G Reward For Illegal Fireworks Information
Police officials at the 114th Precinct this week announced a Zero Tolerance crackdown that will kick off on June 27 and continue through the holiday weekend, targeting drunk drivers, motorists who speak or text on cellphones while driving and anyone caught using, storing and/or selling illegal fireworks, officials said.
Police at the Astoria Boulevard stationhouse will establish traffic checkpoints throughout the precinct area to check for drunk drivers and cellphone use, officials said. Officers will also patrol neighborhoods on bicycle and in patrol cars, arresting anyone caught with illegal fireworks.
The NYPD is also offering a $1,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of people selling, storing or using illegal fireworks. To report the use of illegal fireworks this July 4th holiday weekend, call 911, officials said.
