FedEx Ground has selected a site on Borden Avenue, Long Island City for a new 140,000 square-foot automated distribution center that is scheduled to open in August 2013. The new FedEx Ground facility is part of the company’s nationwide network expansion plan in which 11 major hubs have been added and 500 other facilities have expanded or relocated around the country since 2005. The volume of packages FedEx Ground handles every business day has doubled in the past 10 years.
