Turner Hosts Army’s 237th Anniversary Celebration

In recognition of the 237th anniversary of the United States Army, Congressmember Bob Turner hosted a celebration on June 12. The United States Army has a rich history cultivated over the nearly two and a half centuries it has served to defend our soil,” Turner said. “As the first of our military branches, the Army and those who wear our nation’s uniform, continue, as they always have, to serve with the utmost honor. Putting together a celebration for our local soldiers here in the 9th Congressional District is a small token of our nation’s deep appreciation. The history of accomplishments of the United States Army is truly worth celebrating.” The celebration took place at American Legion Post 1424 on Metropolitan Avenue in Forest Hills. Lieutenant Colonel Mike Kirkpatrick from the Fort Hamilton U.S. Army Garrison in Brooklyn, and the Army’s 10th Mountain Division were in attendance to help the congressmember mark the occasion.
