Vallone, who was a guest speaker, greeted graduates and presented them with City Council Citations.
The Queens Botanical Garden’s Green Jobs Training, which is presented in conjunction with LaGuardia Community College and receives city council funding, is a free program that prepares participants for careers in waste management, sustainable landscaping and green cleaning and housekeeping. It has already placed 78 students in new jobs.
“The city council is working to make New York greener every day, and that means more green jobs,” said Vallone. “What better place to be trained for these jobs than the Queens Botanical Garden.”
