A Queens motorist found himself behind bars last weekend after he drove his car into a Forest Hills grocery store.
Cops said the man was intoxicated when he got behind the wheel of his 2007 Lexus at about 2:30 a.m. on June 2, headed home after a night of heavy drinking.
The motorist lost control of the Lexus at the intersection of Austin Street and Ascan Avenue and the car swerved, slamming through the front window of a local grocery store, police said.
The driver fled the scene before police arrived, but returned about 3½ hours later, police said.
He was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated at his arraignment at Queens Criminal Court.
