As elected officials struggle to finalize the City's budget for the 2013 fiscal year, children
in Douglaston who attend the Best Out of School Time program at Queens Library
at North Hills wrote letters to City Hall in the hopes that their
library will stay funded and open. One student named Sally wrote to
Bloomberg saying: "I put my hope in you. The library is where I can be
who I am and read the books I never had before."


Queens Library is facing a proposed 31 percent budget cut. If not restored, library
service will be severely cut.
