Oasis Café and Bakery bakes a tantalizing array of cakes, cookies, pastries, puddings and bread for all to enjoy in this cool café or to take home. For 25 years, the Ambrosiados Family has made any occasion special with their custom baked, made from scratch cakes and party platters of cookies and pastries. You can make an ordinary day special with a visit to Oasis, conveniently located on Northern Boulevard in Flushing, just next to St. Nicholas’ Greek Church. The breezy, outdoor patio is perfect for summer dining and relaxing, whether you order a coffee and dessert, a cocktail, or a full meal from their menu.

The menu at Oasis Café offers snacks and appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pan pizzas, and crepes. We shared an order of sizzling saganaki, made of sautéed cheese, topped with a squeeze of lemon and served with toast. House made flaky spinach pie or cheese pie makes a nice light lunch or snack anytime and

there’s plenty to share. The same goes for the barbecue or Buffalo chicken wings made with juicy chicken and a crunchy crust and zesty sauce. Greek “toast” is made with smoked ham and kasseri cheese that gets pressed on a grill so it’s melted and savory. The kids will love to share the mozzarella sticks or chicken fingers.

Order a Greek salad for the table and dig into a plethora of fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, chunks of creamy feta cheese and stuffed grape leaves. There’s also a nice Caesar salad and they both can be topped with your choice of grilled chicken, or shrimp for a satisfying entrée. The sandwich grill presses some tasty sandwiches including the Americano with melted cheese and ham, the Oasis delight with turkey and provolone and a vegetarian option. All hot grilled sandwiches are served with your choice of a crunchy salad or their hand sliced French fries.

Pan pizzas come in small and large sizes, are made to order, and come hot from the oven. There are several varieties including the Greek pizza, topped with crumbled feta cheese, fresh tomatoes, black olives and oregano. The signature Oasis pizza is layered with tomato, basil and mozzarella, and the Hawaiian pizza has ham and pineapple. The small size is perfect for one and the large will serve two. You’ll find a vegetable pizza too, which goes well with a Caesar salad.

Sit outside on the terrace and enjoy some special cocktails such as the fuzzy mango, papayatini, strawberry daiquiri or margarita ($8.50). Non-alcoholic fruit smoothies are mixed with bananas, strawberries, passion fruit, papaya or mango. Pair one with the chef’s delicious quesadilla made with three kinds of cheese or with chicken and cheese. A juicy beef or turkey burger hits the spot with some crunchy fries. Keep it light with some of their sweet or savory crepes filled with ham and cheese, smoked turkey and provolone or a variety of fruit and chocolate.

In the front bakery, Oasis’ variety of desserts is dazzling. Sparkling glass cases show off layers of red velvet cake, cheesecakes, Napoleons, tiramisu, carrot cake and more, all made from scratch using quality ingredients. The chocolate mousse cake we shared was a mile-high with layers of moist cake and fluffy mousse. Desserts here are not overly sweet so you can taste the ingredients. Greek pastries include Ekmek, and galaktoboureko, made with shredded wheat, house made custard and almonds. Of course you’ll find extraordinary baklava, all ready to go home in convenient trays. Traditional walnut cake is rich and moist with nuts and syrup, and semolina cake gets its distinctive texture from ground semolina, eggs and honey. Near the door you’ll find dozens of loaves of Greek bread specially made with herbs from the island of Kios. This soft, delicious bread is slightly sweet and topped with sliced almonds and is a delicious treat for breakfast, tea time or a snack. The coffee drinks are robust and flavorful laced with liqueurs, steamed milk and whipped cream, or served straight up.

Oasis is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, dinner or snacks. Come for coffee and dessert or a cocktail with friends and partake of the tasty menu items. Find your oasis from the summer at Oasis Café.
