The Queens Gazette was pleased to welcome students/magazine producers Christina D., Amber R., Danielle S., David P., Lucas G., Christine R., Amber C., teacher Danielle Foster, and Development Director Heather Cortes from the Evangel Christian School, 39-21 Crescent St., Long Island City, for a tour of our facilities also in Long Island City on Friday, June 1. They met with Publisher Tony Barsamian, General Manager Vinny DuPre and the rest of the staff who shared the basics of publishing a weekly newspaper. The students put out their own magazine, The Chronicles of Evangel: The Pen. The Hands. The Gifted. which features articles, poetry and art and has raised funds for The Voice of the Martyrs, a ministry that brings bibles to isolated areas in South America. The students contribute, edit, design, layout, promote and distribute the publication themselves, and were interested in observing the process of operating a community newspaper. We hope the tour inspired the students and look forward to reading more of their publications in the future.
