Amalgamated Bank Offers MoneySense Workshop

Amalgamated Bank, America’s Labor Bank, will be presenting its MoneySense financial literacy workshop at the bank’s Myrtle Avenue branch on Saturday, June 9 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Free and open to the public, the session can help hardworking men and women build the skills they need to manage their money wisely. Men and women can register in advance for the course that will be held at 56-29 Myrtle Ave., Ridgewood.

The workshop provides how-to information that people can use to take charge of their personal finances. Topics covered by MoneySense include creating a family spending plan and deciding on a basic banking account as well as using credit smartly, building and repairing a credit history, reducing debt, and setting financial goals.

The course, which is supported by original materials created by Amalgamated, is presented by the branch staff. Each person who attends the workshop will receive a MoneySense workbook that contains useful tips and skillbuilding exercises. Also, anyone 18 years and older who completes a series of MoneySense workshops is eligible to receive special benefits when he or she opens and maintains a basic Amalgamated Bank checking or savings account for six months or longer.
