IANNECE SEEKING ASSEMBLY SEAT:

Long time Community Leader Jerry Iannece, now in Bayside and before that in Astoria, may finally fulfill a dream of holding elective office in the state Assembly.

Iannece, chairman of Community Board 11 in Bayside since 2002, was endorsed by the Queens Democratic organization last week as its candidate for Assembly in the 25th AD, filling the office vacated by Rory Lancman who decided to run for Congress.

Iannece, commenting after getting the party nod, pledged “to continue working hard to protect Queens taxpayers”. He stated: “Public service should be about standing up for middle class families to make sure that we expand opportunities for all our citizens. My experience, first as a New York City prosecutor and now as chairman of Community Board 11 has allowed me to focus on the real world issues our citizens face each and every day.”

Iannece, who headed the CB for more than 15 years and was also president of the Bayside Civic Association, added: “Whether it was advocating for tax relief for overburdened property owners, or making sure our kids have access to a great education, I have worked hard to provide strong leadership for Queens families. I look forward to continuing this fight in the weeks and months ahead.”

A Bayside resident and attorney, Iannece is an NYU graduate who earned his degree in law from St. John’s University.
