Community Board 6 unanimously approved a GrowNYC Greenmarket to be located on the sidewalk in front of the Forest Hills post office near Queens and Yellowstone Boulevards. The market will be open on Sundays from 8 a.m. through 4 p.m. and will run from June through November. GrowNYC was originally created in 1970 and is a hands-on non-profit which improves the quality of life through environmental programs that transform communities block by block and empower all New Yorkers to secure a clean and healthy environment for future generations. With more than 50 Greenmarkets operating in all five boroughs area residents have the opportunity to get to know the regional farmers who grow the seasonal food offered at dozens of neighborhood farmers markets.
