Area Photo Lab Takes Its Final Shot
Broadway Photoplus, 37-05 Broadway in Astoria, closed its doors this week after 20 years of service. Since the advent of digital photography, 35mm film developing had declined to almost nothing. According to owner Kam Lao, the store would develop almost 100 rolls daily, and is now down to just a couple. As a result, business began to drop off. Paul Halvatzis of Halvatzis Realty is seen here with Lao on the last day of operation. This very photograph is the last one ever to be developed in Broadway Photoplus’ illustrious two-decade career.
