Crossing Guards Honored
Assemblymember Mike Miller gave state Assembly Citations to several local crossing guards at a ceremony on April 3 at the Brewery Keenan Heisser American Legion Post 1815. The guards, all assigned to post in the 104th Precinct, were honored for their years of service and dedication as follows:
•Linda Bock has been a crossing guard for 22 years and covers the area around Sacred Heart of Jesus and P.S. 113 schools in Glendale.
•Adriana Chu celebrated her 18th anniversary as a crossing guard on March 13 and covers the area around P.S. 239 in Ridgewood and I.S. 77 in Ridgewood.
•Rosemary Bernal has been a crossing guard for nine years and covers the area near P.S. 113 and the Sacred Heart of Jesus schools.
•Debra Lynch has been a crossing guard for eight years and covers P.S. 91 and St. Pancras schools in Glendale.
On presenting the awards, Miller said, “These guards are the unsung heroes of our communities. They protect our children and their school zones and we owe them a large debt of gratitude.”
