Koslowitz Visits Israel
Councilmembers Karen Koslowitz and Peter Koo recently joined City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and other colleagues on a visit to Israel. Sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council, the 10-day trip explored a diverse range of topics and site visits, including a tour and discussion with the president of Technion (Israel Institute of Technology), which will establish a new applied science and engineering campus on Roosevelt Island. The group also visited Safed, Haifa and toured the Golan Heights and the border with Syria and Lebanon.The itinerary also included meetings with Deputy Mayor of Haifa Brig. General Hedva Almog and former Mayor of Haifa and Mayor of Yerucham Major-General Amram Mitzna. Koslowitz who last visited in 2010 said, “Being in Israel has again been an incredibly moving and wonderful experience. I am grateful for the opportunity to take part in this educational and insightful trip.” They are seen here at Mount of the Beatitudes near Galilee.
