Woodside ‘Cleaver Attacker’ Busted
Police last week arrested a 41-year-old Woodside man, calling off a manhunt for the accused burglar who threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend with a meat cleaver.
Cops said Damion Jackson threw a brick through a fire escape window at the woman’s Woodside apartment at about noon on January 22 to gain entrance to the residence.
After he broke into the apartment of the 39-year-old victim, Jackson ran to the kitchen, grabbed a meat cleaver and threatened to use it to kill the woman and her 24-year-old son, police said.
After terrifying the victims for a short while, Jackson dropped the cleaver and ran from the apartment in an unknown direction.
The victim alerted police at the 114th Precinct who distributed a photo of Jackson to law enforcement and the media in an effort to locate him.
Cops tracked down Jackson and arrested him on January 24, charging the hulking, 6-foot-2, 220-pound suspect with burglary, attempted assault and weapons possession.
