Astoria Commemorates One Year Anniversary Of Egyptian Protest

On January 23, Councilmember Peter F. Vallone Jr. attended the one year anniversary of the Arab Spring in Egypt hosted by the Civilizations Bridge organization in Astoria. The Arab-American community of Astoria stood in solidarity with the men and women who protested against oppressive regimes, and they came together again to mark the one year anniversary of the protests in Egypt. The Civilizations Bridge, along with the American Mideast Leadership Network, held the event at Layli Dubai at Steinway Street. “We must keep working together to ensure an actual democracy replaces the former dictatorship,” said Vallone. For more information on the Civilizations Bridge, a sister nonprofit organization of the American Mideast Leadership Network visit, www.amln.org.
