Hunt Man Who Posed As Cop In Sex Assault

by LIZ GOFF

Police in Queens are hunting a suspect who, while posing as a city cop, ordered a woman into his car before sexually assaulting her in her Flushing apartment.

Cops said the woman, 52, was posting flyers near Roosevelt Avenue and Parsons Boulevard at about 10:30 p.m. on November 20 when a Burgundy van or SUV carrying four individuals – three males and one female pulled up alongside her.

The driver, described as a Hispanic male, flashed a business card with an NYPD logo and told the woman it was illegal to post fliers.

The suspect asked the woman for identification and when she said she wasn’t carrying any, he ordered her into the vehicle under the pretense of taking her home to retrieve her ID, police said.

The suspect accompanied the woman to her apartment where she produced her identification, police said. After taking the ID, the suspect exposed himself, forced the woman to undress then sexually assaulted her, police said.

The woman fled to a neighbor’s home while the suspect helped himself to her laptop computer and fled with her house keys.

Police last week released a surveillance photo of the suspect, described as 20-25 years old, with short dark hair and a medium complexion.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS or click on www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
