Puglisi Honored For Service

Fred Puglisi was honored at the Salah M. Hassanein Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens on December 8 for his 50 plus years of service as a board member. Throughout his long tenure on the board he has supported the club and impacted the lives of thousands of children. He has seen the name of the organization change from the Queens Boys Club to what it is today and helped with the transition to admitting girls in the 1980s. His son was on hand for the ceremony and made a generous donation to offer scholarships for five children for next year’s summer program in honor of his father. The club is primarily an after-school and vacation program for school aged youth in the Long Island City and Astoria communities. Pictured here are Executive Director Terry Hughes, Puglisi, Board President Walter Sanchez, former President Su Robotti and President’s Council and former City Council Speaker Peter Vallone Sr. Fred Puglisi was honored at the Salah M.
