Baby Left In Burger King
The parents of a 4-month-old girl were arrested on December 7 after they abandoned the baby on a bench inside a Queens Burger King restaurant.
Kimberly Burndidge, 27, was charged with child abandonment for leaving the child at the Burger King restaurant on Rockaway Boulevard, near the Belt Parkway, at about 10:50 p.m. on December 6. The young mother was also charged with acting in a manner to injure a child.
The baby’s father, Westley Kendall, 20, was charged with child endangerment, falsely reporting an incident, obstruction of governmental administration and acting in a manner to injure a child, police said.
Police sources said Kendall works at the restaurant and called police to tell them he found an abandoned child there.
“This guy zipped his lips and watched police and paramedics as they examined the baby and took her away,” the sources said.
The baby was taken to an area hospital where she was examined and given a clean bill of health.
A short while later, the baby’s mother called police and confessed that she had left her child in the fast food restaurant and that the girl’s father works there.
Kendall was arrested at the restaurant a short while later.
The baby was put in the custody of the city Administration for Children’s Services.
