Simotas Honored By Hellenic Professional Women

On November 29, Assemblymember Aravella Simotas was honored by Hellenic Professional Women at Central Lounge’s Ammos Restaurant in Astoria.  Simotas was recognized for her role as a mentor to young women of Greek descent and her longtime involvement with the organization. “I would not be where I am today without the guidance of mentors who invested in my success and guided me throughout my career,” Simotas said. “It is a privilege to now have the opportunity to help other young women find direction in their professional lives.”
Simotas was introduced by  Evangeline Soldatou, who she mentored. Soldatou credited the Assemblymember with helping her decide to attend law school. Simotas also presented a citation to fellow honoree Dimitras Manis, the Global Head of HR for the Professional Division at Thomson Reuters. Also in attendance at the event, chaired by Carol Georgiadis, were Consul General of Cyprus Koula Sophianou and Consul of Greece Evangelos Kyriakopoulos.
