Student Library Fee Reprieve
Students worried about fines for overdue public library books can take a sigh of relief, library officials said.
Officials last week announced a citywide amnesty program for more than 100,000 students who were previously barred from taking out library books because they had racked up a total of $5 million in unpaid book fees.
Officials said the plan would allow students to concentrate on their studies, rather than how they would pay the fines for overdue books.
