Given the anniversary of September 11, the Clinton Democratic Club honored the United States Military and our Veterans. The children sang "God Bless America” and “Halo” to the service men and women in attendance. President Paul Vallone acknowledged all Veterans by saying, “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for extending your halo over our children, families and country."

Colonel Richard Cochrane, Colonel Seymour Kaplan and Colonel Louis Sudholz of the 77th Infantry Division briefly spoke of the Infantry’s impressive history, which includes never losing a battle throughout World War I and World War II. Specialist William Pardue and Sergeant P.J. MacAlpine briefly spoke of their roles in the National Guard, which also includes participation in the 42nd Infantry Division Band. The children even asked to be their pen pals while on their tour of duty. Visit soldiersangels.org for more information.

Our very own Bianca Pappas, from Whitestone talked to the children about her role as Miss New York.

The Clinton Democratic Club’s next meeting will be October 19 at 7 p.m. For more information, please call 718-428-7285.
