Defenseless Dog Tossed From Window
Astoria resident Milian Rysa deliberately tossed his 50-pound, Chinese Shar-Pei dog out of his third-story apartment window around 8:30 p.m. on September 12.
Rysa lives on Steinway Street and is a 30-year old body builder. Witnesses claimed to have seen Rysa throw his dog, Brooklyn, out of the window. Brooklyn died instantly with a loud thump as he landed on the sidewalk. Rysa afterwards turned off his lights and did not bother to go downstairs.
Police arrived shortly and charged him with aggravated animal cruelty and reckless endangerment. Rysa claimed he had been sleeping the whole time and had no idea what happened to his dog Brooklyn. Rysa was taken nearby to Elmhurst Hospital Center for a psychiatric evaluation.
Reports from neighbors stated they had previously seen Rysa abuse Brooklyn.
