Verizon And Mets Team Up With Local Youngsters
More than 100 kids from three Queensbased organizations including the Chinese- American Planning Council of Flushing, The Flushing YMCA and the Rego Park based Queens Community House. The young ballplayers received tips on hitting, fielding, throwing and base running from New York Mets Outfielder Lucas Duda, Bullpen Coach John Debus and Relief Pitcher Pedro Beato.
The program is now in its third year and has been very successful, according to Verizon Media Relations Director John Bonomo.
“Verizon is committed to reaching out to the community it serves with programs like the one today,” Bonomo said. “These kinds of events show that Verizon is not only a tech company but we’re also a good neighbor.”
