Lexington School For The Deaf Recognizes Class For 2011

Lexington School for the Deaf, the largest school for the deaf in New York State recently graduated 29 high school students in the Class of 2011. The class valedictorian was Jamie Nigel Penzellna of The Bronx and the salutatorian was Sergio Andres Carrillo Valdivieso of Staten Island.

“We are exceptionally proud of the class of 2011, many of whom have been Lexington students since kindergarten,” Lexington School for the Deaf Superintendent Dr. Regina Carroll said. “We are confident that the graduates will successfully continue on to college, vocational school or the workforce and we wish them all the very best in their future endeavors.”

Since 1864, the Lexington School for the Deaf has been educating deaf students to become literate, reflective, independent thinking persons with the confidence and tools necessary to compete in today’s society. The high school program consists of grades nine to 12, with a curriculum mirroring high schools across the state.
