Van Bramer Marches In Kiwanis Club Flag Day Parade

On June 11 Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer marched in the 42 annual Sunnyside Kiwanis Club
Flag Day Parade along with Assemblywoman Cathy Nolan as well as many neighbors and friends. Flag Day is
officially recognized on June 14th each year to commemorate the history and adoption of the flag of the United
States of America. The late Joseph Sabba, owner of Sabba Printing and the Woodside Herald, initially served as chairman of the
Sunnyside Flag Day Parade. The parade runs along Greenpoint Avenue from 41st to 48th Street, culminating in a
ceremony at Veterans Memorial Plaza (also known as Joseph Sabba Park).
"For more than four decades, Sunnyside has been the proud host of one of the only Flag Day celebrations in the
five boroughs. Each year, the Flag Day events bring our community together to celebrate the history of our nation,
which continues to be beacon of tolerance and acceptance around the world,” Van
Bramer said.
