Martin Luther School Names Chin-Sinn Principal Of Middle School Program
Martin Luther School of Maspeth is pleased to announce the appointment of Barbara Chin-Sinn as principal of the Middle School program, which will officially begin in September.
A native of Jamaica, Chin-Sinn earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami, Master of Science in Administration and Supervision from St. John’s University and will soon complete her Master of Education degree from Fordham University.
Most recently, Chin-Sinn served for more than 25 years at St. John Lutheran School in Glendale, first as a teacher and then for 14 years as principal. She also taught fifth grade at St. John’s College in the Bahamas and fifth and sixth grade at Wolmer’s Elementary School in Jamaica.
Chin-Sinn has served on the Board of the Lutheran Schools Association and was president of the Queens Principals Association for 10 years. She is also a member of the Association of Schools & Curriculum development and The Reading Association.
Chin-Sinn is no stranger to Martin Luther and the school’s mission and ministry – her son, Christopher graduated from Martin Luther in 1993 and her daughter, Moy, graduated in 1996. Both children followed her into the education field.
“We are so excited to welcome Barbara to our Ministry,” commented Martin Luther Head of School Randal Gast. “She brings with her a wealth of knowledge in Middle School education and administration, and a passion for sharing God’s love with children.”
Martin Luther School will host a Middle School Open House on June 16 from 6p.m. until 8p.m., giving interested students and their families the opportunity to meet Chin-Sinn, tour the facility and learn about the exciting academic programs to be offered. The school is located at 60-02 Maspeth Ave., two blocks north of Grand Avenue. For information, call 718-894-4000 or visit www.MartinLutherNYC.org.
