On May 21 Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer presented awards to the winners of the first Long Island City (LIC) Arts Open Children’s Art Contest. This year’s theme is Welcome to Queens: The Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge Art Contest, with around 1,500 amazing works of art from many schools now hanging in the LIC Art Center’s 5th-floor hallway gallery. The event is organized by the LIC Arts Open organization, a collaboration of arts entities, businesses and individuals seeking to spotlight the diverse artistic community in LIC.
