HANAC Dedicates Rooftop Terrace To Vallone Family
On May 10, Councilmember Peter F. Vallone Jr. joined his family at HANAC’s George T. Douris Senior Residence in Astoria for the unveiling of a terrace on the fifteenth floor named for him and his father. Following the official grand opening of HANAC’s affordable senior residence and center at Astoria Boulevard and 29th Street, a rooftop terrace with sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline and the Northwest Queens waterfront was dedicated in honor of former City Council Speaker Peter F. Vallone Sr. and Councilmember Peter F. Vallone Jr. During his tenure as city council speaker, Vallone Sr. was an avid supporter of HANAC and a longtime friend of founder and fellow Astoria native George Douris. Vallone Jr. continues this tradition by providing funding for HANAC’s many programs including the building of the senior residence.
