Lauren LoGiudice Is Rising Star In Film/Theater


Up-and-coming film and theater actress Lauren LoGiudice of Howard Beach. Up-and-coming film and theater actress Lauren LoGiudice of Howard Beach. Howard Beach native, Lauren LoGiudice, is co-starring in a new feature film, When Harry Tries To Marry which opened April 22.

This romantic comedy centers around a young Indian-American college man, played by Rahul Rai, who wishes to have an arranged marriage, to the chagrin of his Americanized parents. Along the way, his plans are derailed by a chance meeting with an American woman. Meanwhile, LoGiudice plays Angela, a model, who is the pregnant girlfriend of his father. The film was shot in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Bombay, India and has sold out all three festivals it was shown at. It received several awards at the London Asian Film Festival.

“It was amazing to be around such dedicated filmmakers,” LoGiudice said of the experience.

LoGiudice has come full circle in her burgeoning career, which started when she received a fellowship to study classical Indian performance through the America- India Foundation. At 5’10” with modeling experience, LoGiudice was a natural for the role. She met the producer of Harry, Sheetal Vyas, at the Tribeca Film Festival and was invited to audition for the role.

“Filming in Bombay was a dream come true for me,” LoGiudice said.

An actor-model-writer who speaks Italian fluently, LoGiudice also has swordfighting, Swahili language skills, piano, stage combat, mime, snorkeling, dance and many sports in her curriculum vitae, to name a few of her accomplishments.

All this from a down-home Italian girl from a large family who attended St. Helen’s in Howard Beach, Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica Estates and Wesleyan University in Connecticut on a basketball scholarship. She studied acting at the Michael Howard Studio, The Actor’s Center and the T. Schreiber Studio. In 2009 she wrote, produced and starred in Queens Girl, an autobiographical solo show which toured worldwide to much acclaim.

She has also appeared on the daytime drama, “All My Children”.

In 2010, she co-starred in Flick’s Chicks, a romantic comedy shot in New Jersey. In the film, the character Flick is a gay single mother who is coming out and has five romantic prospects to choose from, one of whom is LoGiudice who plays Alex.

Now staging a second solo show on the life of Greta Garbo, LoGiudice and Over/Under Productions Co-Founder Kelsey Chauvin produced this year’s short, Reality Check. Their first production was 2010’s Bridal Party a short film inspired by life in Howard Beach, written by Chauvin and starring LoGiudice. It premiered at the Gotham Screen Film Festival.

LoGiudice also co-stars in Bittersweet Monday as a model searching for deeper human connections. It is currently in postproduction.

In the title role of When Harry Tries To Marry, Hicksville native, dancer and Pace University math major/theater minor Rai appears in his very first film. The director, Nayan Padrai spotted Rai performing at the Bollywood Performing Arts and invited him to audition for the role.
