Reality House Breaks Ground For New Vet Community Residence
On April 8, Reality House held a groundbreaking ceremony for their forthcoming veterans community residence and outpatient program located at 8-13 Astoria Blvd., Astoria. President and CEO of the East River Development Alliance Bishop Mitchell Taylor began the ceremony by welcoming Reality House to Queens. Keynote speaker Commissioner for the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) Arlene Gonzalez-Sanchez spoke on behalf of Governor Andrew Cuomo. Local civic leaders in attendance were Congressmember Carolyn Maloney, Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, state Senators Michael Gianaris and Shirley Huntley and Councilmember Peter Vallone Jr. Also in attendance were Regional Counsel Department of Veterans Affairs George Burns, Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Terrance C. Holliday, LaGuardia Community College Office of Veterans Services Joseph Bello, NYC Leathernecks Motorcycle Club President Joe Leone and other community leaders.
