Collision Kills Woman, 82
An 82-year-old Jackson Heights woman was killed on March 21 when she was struck by one of two cars that collided at 70th Street and 32nd Avenue in Jackson Heights.
Police said Margaret Choberka was struck by a 2002 Mercedes Benz just feet away from the home.
The Mercedes was traveling northbound on 70th Street at about 12:48 p.m. when it collided with a 2009 Toyota Sienna heading westbound on 32nd Avenue. The Toyota hit the back of the Mercedes, sending the Mercedes into Choberka as she was crossing the intersection, police said.
Eyewitnesses told investigators the driver of the Toyota ran a red light at the intersection. Both drivers remained at the scene and no charges were filed, according to authorities.
