Amalgamated Bank Assists Queens World Film Festival
Amalgamated Bank is serving the neighbors of Jackson Heights through its support of the Queens World Film Festival, which will be held from March 3 to 6. More than 2,500 filmmakers, elected officials, special guests and people from all over Queens are expected to participate in the four-day event. The festival includes104 independent films and the opening night ceremonies to be held at the restored Jackson Triplex movie house.
There will also be two short films by members of Queens Filmmakers.
New York City based Amalgamated formed an alliance with the film festival organizers after the recent opening of its fifth Queens branch at 78-01 37th Ave. in Jackson Heights. During the film festival’s premiere evening, Amalgamated will distribute giveaway items to the audience.
Also on March 5, the bank is participating in the festival’s Kids Short Stack and Family Fare program that will be held at the Renaissance Charter School. Before and after the screening, which runs from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., Amalgamated will give items to youngsters and teenagers. There will be additional films screened until 8:30 p.m.
