GYRO UNO PIZZERIA RESTAURANT

Gyro Uno has been Astoria's number one choice for juicy gyros for 22 years. You'll also find chicken kebabs, pizza, burgers, salads, soups and a whole lot more at this neighborhood eatery on the corner of Steinway Street and 28th Avenue. Whether you eat in at one of their neat and clean tables, take your order to go, or call it in for fast, free delivery, Gyro Uno delivers good food fast! What makes Gyro Uno so special? Owner Chris Sourlis makes his own gyro on the premises with a combination of high quality beef, lamb and a secret blend of spices and herbs that render the meat juicy and flavorful. His lovely daughter, Sotiria works the front with her warm smile and Helen, the friendly waitress serves with a smile too, making sure you have everything you need.

You can really taste the difference in these gyros; juicy and fresh, never frozen. The chicken kebabs were cooked to retain their juices and tenderness and these are the two most popular items on the menu. If you can't decide between them, simply order the combo and you'll enjoy some of both. You can have these succulent meats piled onto a pita sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion and tzatziki sauce (which is excellent, by the way) or layered onto a platter with your choice of french fries, seasoned rice or the fabulous lemon potatoes. From the sizzling grill you'll also find Greek style sausage, pork chops, lamb chops and rib steak.

GYRO UNO PIZZERIA RESTAURANT GYRO UNO PIZZERIA RESTAURANT A very generous hunk of the house made spanakopita or spinach pie makes a nice lunch or dinner, especially with a crunchy Greek salad on the side, topped with stuffed grape leaves and creamy feta cheese. Other Greek specialties include pastitsio baked pasta and moussaka, layered with eggplant, ground meat and b├ęchamel ($9.50). Soups are made fresh with two selections offered each day that may include lentil, chicken rice, minestrone, split pea or pasta e fagioli.

Classic beef burgers are cooked to order and topped with Swiss or cheddar cheese, bacon, mushrooms, onions or nearly anything else your palate desires. Turkey burgers and veggie burgers are available too. Make it deluxe and get a generous order of French fries with that for about $7.50. They will whip up a thick milkshake or ice cream float to accompany your burger that both the kids and adults will love.

Gyro Uno makes crispy crust pizza in small, medium and large size pies. Top your pie with extra cheese, mushrooms, pepperoni, vegetables, sausage or enjoy it straight up. Stromboli rolls, chicken rolls and calzones are popular too, especially at lunch time. Hot heros are made with freshly baked bread loaded with meatballs, chicken cutlet parmigiana, eggplant parm, peppers and eggs, grilled chicken breast and more. You'll need two hands and a hearty appetite for these heros, available for delivery to your home or office.

Gyro Uno starts the day off at 9am offering delicious breakfasts to stay or to go. Eggs are prepared any style and served on a plate with home fries and toast, or as an on-your-way sandwich. Fluffy omelets are flipped with mushrooms, cheese, bacon, ham and sausage. The coffee is fresh and hot too.
