Quinn-Carey To Join Queens Library As COO

New Queens Library Chief Operating Officer Bridget Quinn-Carey.New Queens Library Chief Operating Officer Bridget Quinn-Carey.Bridget Quinn-Carey will join Queens Library as Chief Operating Officer on April 4, succeeding Maureen O’Connor who retired last July. 

“I am thrilled to be joining the Queens Library as COO,” Quinn-Carey said.

Quinn-Carey, who earned her Master's Degree in Library Science at St. John's University, has been director of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library since 2008 and is chair of the New York State Regents Advisory Council on Libraries.

“Queens Library is one of the premier library systems in the world, known for the quality of its collections, innovative programs that serve a diverse community, world-class facilities and cutting-edge technology,” Queens Library CEO Thomas W. Galante said in welcoming Quinn-Carey.

At Buffalo and Erie County, Quinn-Carey had oversight of 37 branches. Prior to that, she was Director of the Essex Library Association in Connecticut. She has also been a librarian and library administrator since 1991 and has been actively involved in many professional associations. 

"I look forward to continuing the critical work of developing quality programming collections and services for the Queens community and to be working with such an esteemed group of library professionals," she said.
