Hunt Suspect In Shooting Death
Queens detectives are seeking help from the public to identify and locate a suspect in the December 22 shooting death of a Richmond Hill man. Police said Keenan Drinks, 46, was discovered lying in the street near his 134th Street home by his wife at about midnight. Drinks had been shot once in the face, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by city paramedics who responded to a 911 call made by neighbors. Police sources said investigators believe Drinks was shot when he attempted to stop a burglary in progress. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call the Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. The Hotline is offering a $2,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
Cops Bust ATM Machine Thief
A pair of eagle-eyed anti-crime cops at the 106th Precinct last week put the brakes on an Ozone Park man who was using his truck to steal an ATM machine. Police said Ramon Cabrera, 27, was sitting behind the wheel of a white Dodge pickup truck at about 5 a.m. on December 23 on Cross Bay Boulevard and 110th Avenue, when the cops watched him back the truck into an ATM machine located outside a local restaurant. Cabrera was taken to the 106th Precinct for processing, where investigators were able to link him to two other similar ATM thefts in Queens. Police sources said Cabrera confessed to stealing an ATM machine outside an Astoria grocery store on December 5. The machine contained $8,000 at the time of the theft, police sources said. Cabrera was charged with multiple counts of grand larceny and criminal mischief.
Cops Hunt Suspect In Knifepoint Robbery
Police in Flushing are searching for a suspect who held up a woman at knifepoint and swiped her handbag on December 20. Cops said the woman was walking along Fresh Meadows Lane near Auburndale Lane at about 9:45 p.m. when the suspect accosted her from behind flashing a knife at the terrified victim. The man grabbed the woman’s handbag and fled northbound on Auburndale Lane, police said. Anyone with information is urged to call the Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
Teen Nabbed In BB-Gun Assault
Police arrested a Corona teenager on December 28 after he fired a BB gun at a group of adults and children gathered outside his home on 50th Avenue. Cops said a passerby called 911 after he spotted Luis Gonzalez, 19, firing shots from a window at his third-floor apartment on 97th Street at about 4 p.m. on December 28. Gonzalez was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment. Police sources said Gonzalez did not tell investigators why he fired at his neighbors.
Plainclothes Cop Nabs Assault-Thief
A plainclothes cop out of the 115th Precinct last week busted a thief who beat and robbed a man on Corona street corner. Police said Patricio Naulqa-Chimboraz, 23, followed the 47-year-old vicitim and grabbed him from behind as the man walked along 37th Avenue near 97th Street at about 1 a.m. on December 21. When the victim fell to the sidewalk, Naulqa-Chimboraz grabbed $14 from the man's pocket and turned to flee the scene, police said. That's when the plainclothes cop stepped in and grabbed Naulqa-Chimboraz, who was charged with assault and robbery.
