PLUM Restaurant…Lounge…Event Space

Fall is the perfect time to sample the cozy luxury of Plum Restaurant, Lounge and Event Space. A recent facelift to the already beautiful interior includes sultry, sheer curtains that drape from the ceiling and banquettes. Warm colors, soft lighting and an impressively designed bar and lounge area all ensure a superior dining experience. Luxurious leather banquettes line the walls and provide an intimate setting for a quiet dinner for two, or a gathering with friends and family. The spacious, bi-level dining room makes Plum an excellent venue for private parties on Saturday afternoons, when the restaurant is reserved for private affairs of up to 120 people. Best of all, Plum’s prices are very reasonable and within reach to everyone.

Owner Kostas Kantlis is proud to unveil a new menu for the season that incorporates Mediterranean, Latin and Asian influences in the cuisine to please the eclectic tastes of the clientele. All dishes are prepared to order and your patience is rewarded with the freshest dishes, served piping hot. The servers are polite and friendly and attend to your every need while you settle back for a delicious meal. Start with one of their fabulous cocktails, such as the pomegranate martini, signature Plum-tini, cosmos and fruity mojitos. There’s also a nice variety of wines to complement your meal.

Take a culinary journey as you sample a couple of their tempting appetizers. There is something for every taste and sharing is always a good idea. For some appetizers with an Asian twist, try a new dish called shrimp in a crock, made with plump, juicy shrimp in an aromatic broth flavored with lemon and cilantro ($9). Satays are strips of marinated chicken or beef, laced onto skewers and grilled, then served with a Thai peanut dipping sauce. Potsticker dumplings are filled with beef and leeks and gently pan-fried and served with a zesty dipping sauce ($9). Classic Greek style dips and warm pita bread make up the Euro Sampler. Crispy calamari, goat cheese croquettes and spanakopita spring rolls reflect the Mediterranean diet, along with mini lamb burgers called “sliders”. These juicy morsels are perfectly seasoned and make a great snack along with a cocktail or an appetizer before dinner. Even macaroni and cheese gets a new twist when topped with baby shrimp. The Plum salad is tossed with slices of buttery avocado, hearts of palm, tender lettuce, tomato and crumbled goat cheese. Next time I’ll try the grilled calamari salad sprinkled with lemon.

Plum’s entrees cover the best in fish, pasta, chicken and fabulous steaks. Lobster ravioli are tender and replete with sweet lobster meat, dressed in light tomato sauce. Plum’s rigatoni is topped with fresh tomato and chunks of tender chicken. Some new items on the menu include Cajun chicken New Orleans style with spicy seasonings and chicken Artista, layered with fresh mozzarella and tomato. I was presented with an eye dazzling, grilled Mahi Mahi, beautifully plated with red bliss mashed potatoes and a sprig of fresh rosemary. The generous portion left plenty for lunch the next day. Grilled salmon and Cajun style swordfish are popular choices, as well as Athenian style fillet of sole, shrimp Santorini and shrimp Creole.

Meat eaters will rejoice in Plum’s tender hangar steak or toothsome skirt steak frites, served with crispy French fries ($24). Two new steak items include spicy Brazilian skirt steak and the Portuguese style topped with a fried egg. Buttery filet mignon is available as well and all meat and fish entrees are served with choice of rice or potatoes and fresh vegetables of the day. You can’t beat their delicious burgers, served in the dining room or at the bar.

Plum offers an incredible Early Dinner, served Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 7pm. For just $13.95, diners enjoy a 3-course dinner with a complimentary glass of wine. Plum serves a delicious brunch on Sundays from 10am to 4pm. Starting at just $9.95, choose your favorite omelet, steak and eggs, fluffy pancakes, French toast, sandwiches and more.

Plum Restaurant, Lounge and Event Space is open 6 days a week for dinner, brunch on Sundays and private events on Saturday afternoons. Closed on Mondays. Kostas will be happy to arrange your personalized shower, engagement party, christening or other happy occasion to fit your budget. Visit Plum for a festive Happy Hour from 4pm to 9pm, Tuesday through Sunday, when you’ll find $3 beers and $5 drinks. Plum offers excellent food, cocktails, wine and great service, right in the neighborhood. The service is polite and the atmosphere is so pleasant, a visit to Plum makes any night special. Cheers!
