OEM And Pols Urge New Storm Alert Systems

Assemblymember Rory Lancman (D-Hillcrest), city Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Commissioner Joe Bruno, Assemblymember Grace Meng (DFlushing) and City Councilmember Dan Halloran (R-Whitestone) visited the stormdamaged Broadway section of Flushing on September 22. The group urged all New Yorkers to sign up for the NY-Alert and Notify-NYC emergency alert systems. These emergency alert systems will provide advance warnings of a tornado’s approach via email and text messages, giving residents critical extra time to act to protect their families and themselves.
