Bicycle Thief Nabbed
A 24-year-old Queens man found himself behind bars on August 15 after police caught him pedaling away on a bicycle he swiped off an Astoria street.
Cops said Leo Rivera tried to make his getaway on an expensive Bianchi bike, which he stole from a spot on Broadway near 29th Street about 3 p.m. on August 15.
The owner of the $2,200 bike spotted Rivera as he pedaled away and called 911, police said.
Armed with a description of Rivera provided by the victim, cops responding from the 114th Precinct took off after the suspect and nabbed him a few blocks from the scene.
Rivera was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property at his arraignment at Queens Criminal Court.
