Vallone Performs With 1910 Fruitgum Company In Astoria Park

Despite overcast skies and intermittent rain, the 1910 Fruitgum Company performed for several hundred people on the Astoria Park lawn last Thursday, August 12, part of the weekly summer-long series organized by the Central Astoria Local Development Coalition (CALDC) and funded by City Councilmember Peter Vallone Jr. The rock band, currently touring summer festivals around the country, played some of their hit songs, including, “Simon Says”, “1-2-3 Red Light” and other classics from the 1960s and ’70s. Vallone, who plays four instruments, sat in on bass during the band’s performances of the Grass Roots’ “Midnight Confessions” and the Monkees’ “Daydream Believer”, marking his second musical performance of the summer.
