Make Music Astoria

Astoria will bustle with free outdoor concerts as part of the Fourth Annual Make Music New York Festival.

The festival, based on Paris’ renowned Fête de la Musique, offers free performances of all genres of music on sidewalks, at street fairs and block parties.

On June 21 Astoria will be one of the epicenters of the festival with 17 performance locations situated around 30th, 31st and 34th Avenues, Steinway Street, Broadway and Astoria Park.

This year reflects the growth of the Astoria music scene, with many of the performing musicians being Astoria residents recruited by local MMNY volunteers and Astoria organizations such as the Central Astoria Local Development Coalition and Astoria Music & Arts.

Most performances will occur during the afternoon and early evening, with a rock concert being held in Astoria Park from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Complete listings for the performances can be found on the Make Music New York Web site, www.makemusicny.org.
