Throughout the month of April City View Pharmacy, 23-07 Astoria Blvd., Astoria, is hosting a fundraising effort benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The effort, “Give Thanks, Give Hope”, benefiting St. Jude, is conducted through retailers and gives store patrons the opportunity to make a $1 “pin-up” donation at the register to fund treatment and research for pediatric cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

City View Pharmacy Pharmacist/Owner Harry Xidias said this benefit for St. Jude’s is close to his heart. “In our own family, we have both loved ones who lost their battle with cancer as well as loved ones who beat the odds,” he said. “When you add in friends and neighbors from the Pharmacy, you begin to realize that cancer touches everyone’s life in some way. So it’s only natural to want to fund research and treatment, especially for kids, as St. Jude’s does so well.”

The promotion runs through the end of April. City View Pharmacy will match the first 1,000 “pinup” dollars collected at the store. All proceeds go directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
