Padavan, Halloran Co-Sponsor Health Expo
State Senator Frank Padavan announced on April 9 that he will join with City Councilmember Dan Halloran in co-sponsoring a health expo at St. Sarkis Armenian Church on Sunday afternoon April 18. The expo will run from 1 to 6 p.m. and will take place at the church located at 38-55 234 Street in Douglaston (just north of the Douglaston LIRR station).
More than 40 healthcare and community sponsors will participate in the expo. Confirmed sponsors are: St. Francis Hospital-The Women’s Center, North Shore University Hospital at Syosset, Lions Eye Bank of North Shore University Hospital, Prime Home Care, New York City Fire Department, Alina Kochomian Stanciu, M.D. and AXA Advisors, LLC, Long Island Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Quest Diagnostic, Chase Bank, Neurological Surgery PC and more than 40 more healthcare providers and community partners.
“This health expo is a great opportunity for families, seniors and residents throughout Northeast Queens to access some free medical services, screenings and testing and learn more about what they can do for their own health and wellness,” Padavan said. “I urge everyone to take a few hours on April 18 and find out what they can do for your health.”
Free screening tests will include eye tests, blood pressure, oral cancer screenings, diabetes screenings, nutrition and medication counseling, cardiologic screenings, pediatrics, podiatry, chiropractic screenings and sonogram testing. Lectures throughout the day will include issues such as: colon problems, stroke prevention, juvenile diabetes, stress management, vascular health, coronary and carotid artery disease, back pain, cancer screenings, and hypertension and pain management.
“It is much easier to prevent illnesses than to treat them,” Halloran said. “This health expo will bring much-needed preventive health care to my constituents. Senator Padavan and I invite everyone in Northeast Queens to take part. Just a few minutes of your time can make a huge difference for your health.”
