Student Charged In School Stabbing
Police last week arrested a 16-year-old Newtown H.S. student who was charged with stabbing a fellow student at the Elmhurst school.
Police sources said eyewitnesses identified Bryan Godoy as the assailant in the attack that occurred at about 11:20 a.m. on March 12. Eyewitnesses told police Godoy jumped the victim as he walked along a third floor hallway at the school. The pair struggled for a moment before Godoy pulled a knife and stabbed the victim.
The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he is listed in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Sources said the victim initially refused to cooperate with investigators and would not reveal the name of his attacker until eyewitnesses identified Godoy.
Investigators believe the stabbing was the result of a long-running dispute between the two teens.
Godoy was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon at his arraignment at Queens Criminal Court.
